The NFL and National Football League Players Association will meet on March 3, the last day the current collective bargaining agreement will remain in effect. Representatives from all 32 teams are scheduled to be present.

If they can’t settle on a new CBA in that last-day meeting, a NFL lockout will become an option for the owners. Football fans who wonder why the two sides can’t just lock themselves in a room until they reach an agreement, that’s as close as you’re going to get.
The league and the union broke off meetings last week after resuming for the first time since last year. Tensions remain extremely high, and there’s no real hope of a solution being uncovered between now and March 3. There’s little hope of everything being worked out on March 3 either.
Shortly after the NFL Combine, which begins Feb. 23, league owners will meet with each other in advance of the March 3 summit.
