2011 NFL Draft News: Jake Locker, NFL Combine, Where Are They Now

The 2011 NFL draft is a few months away but the news doesn’t stop. Check out SB Nation’s Mocking The Draft for a daily dose of NFL draft talk while we’ve rounded up a few interesting draft stories. We’re talking about Jake Locker at the NFL Combine, which school will have the most players drafted and a ‘Where are the now?’ on the 2007 class of running backs.

-Jake Locker plans to do everything at the NFL Combine. There’s been a phenomenon in recent years -- if you’re projected to be a top player, you avoid the Combine. Not everyone does it’s there with quarterbacks. For someone like Jake Locker, it can be very beneficial. Locker, who tells National Football Post he will do everything at the Combine, doesn’t have a strong history as an accurate passer. Throwing in a setting like the Combine would be a way to ease some of those fears that NFL teams have.

-Which school will have the most players drafted? SB Nation’s Mocking The Draft put that question up to a vote. The choices were Auburn, USC or someone else. 37 percent of readers say it’s Auburn and 19 percent say it’s USC. 43 percent of readers say it’ll be someone else. Check out the story where there’s a school-by-school break down on who may get drafted. Will anyone beat Florida in 2010, who had 10 players drafted and six in the top 62 picks? That was a pretty Incredible draft.

-2007 running backs class: where are they now? I love going back and looking at his previous draft classes finding who was the bust and who was the steal. The first running back taken, Adrian Peterson to the Vikings, could be considered a steal even though he was the seventh overall pick. Everyone knows about him and how awesome he's been in the NFL. Here are some other names you may not remember: Kenny Irons, Chris Henry (not that one) and Brian Leonard. One name that pops out is Brandon Jackson, a second round pick by the Packers. He was the running back that bridged the gap between Ryan Grant and James Starks as the Packers running back this year.
