The NFL and NFL Player’s Association continue to negotiate along with a federal mediator in Washington D.C. They agreed to seven consecutive days of negotiations which means the last session together (for now) is Thursday.
NFLPA Cancels Meeting With Agents At 2011 NFL Combine
Following that, the NFLPA was expected to meet with some agents at the 2011 NFL Combine on Thursday, presumably to update them on negotiations with the league. This would come before the all-agent meeting on Friday.
Apparently, that first meeting won’t be happening anymore. Liz Mullen of Sports Business Journal reported on Tuesday afternoon that the NFLPA has canceled the meeting with agents on Thursday. Shortly after that, NFLPA spokesman George Atallah confirmed the report via Twitter.
We’re guessing that the NFLPA wants to stick to their agreement with the league to end making public comments about their negotiations so the update won’t be much of an update.
The two sides have met for five consecutive days and, if silence is golden, then all is going well. Neither side has had much to say publicly about the negotiations so we’re left guessing as to whether they’re making actual progress.
