The NFL and NFLPA continue to negotiate a new Collective Bargaining Agreement along with a federal mediator in Washington D.C. There were reports coming out in the last hour that the two sides could extend the deadline -- which is at midnight -- in order to give themselves more time to strike a deal.
Tom Brady, Peyton Manning And Drew Brees Could Be Involved In NFL, NFLPA Legal Case
If that doesn’t happen, the NFLPA is widely expected to decertify. If that happens, the next step would be filing an antitrust lawsuit against the league.
This would be a similar tactic to the historical Reggie White case in 1993 that granted the players free agency. This time around, though, the lead plaintiffs in the lawsuit against the league would include Tom Brady, Peyton Manning an Drew Brees, according to a report from Jim Trotter of SI.com.
Fans of football, though, are hoping we never make it to that point. The best case scenario at this moment is the two sides agreeing to an extension and stopping the clock so to speak.
