Mike Mayock Reportedly Joins NFL Network Thursday Night Crew
Mike Mayock, arguably the best NFL draft analyst in the business today and a big fan favorite, has been added to NFL Network’s Thursday night announcing package, according to Richard Deitsch of SI.com. A formal announcement isn’t expected for several weeks and NFLN hasn’t confirmed the move.
What other changes will NFLN make?
Also on the move is NFL Network’s Joe Theismann and Matt Millen -- they will be replaced on the Thursday night package, according to Deitsch. This is a no-brainer. Millen was arguably the worst GM in NFL history so, even though he may have been a decent announcer, his overall credibility was hurt. Theismann is...well, you’ve watched him before.
Who might else be coming in? One name could surprise you: Gus Johnson.
Indeed, nothing is confirmed but SI.com reports NFL Network is “considering” Johnson. That would certainly please the younger crowd who tends to really like Johnson.
So it could possibly be swapping Millen and Theismann for Mayock and Gus? I’d say that’s a net positive.
