2011 NFL Regular Season Schedule Release Coming Tuesday

The NFL has confirmed the 2011 regular season schedule will be released on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. (ET). NFL Network (and ESPN) will carry a schedule release special.

The preseason schedule was released last week and plenty of people have been wondering when the regular season schedule will be released. Despite the NFL lockout, the league will release the scheduled slate of games.

We already know the opponents for each team. The formula is the same every year which has each team playing each division opponent twice, a rotating schedule of one NFC division and one AFC division. It also includes each team playing the teams in their conference that finished in the same spot in their division. For example, the Chiefs, who finished in first place in the AFC West, will also play the Steelers and Colts, who finished in first place in their division.

The schedule release simply tells us when each team will play. We will also find out the primetime games for each team -- Monday Night Football, Sunday Night Football and Thursday Night Football, as well as Thanksgiving.

Of course, all of this means nothing if the NFL lockout isn’t lifted.
