The majority of sports news anchors, reporters, analysts, and hosts are actively disliked. They’re abrasive, or they disrespect your favorite team/player, or their analysis is stupid, or they’re boring, or something else. Either sports fans are hopelessly picky and overcritical, or this industry does a terrible job of hiring and promoting people (hint: it is the latter).
POLL: Is Rich Eisen The Most Likable TV Sportscreature?
↵This, I think, is why it’s especially important to recognize the people in the business who do a great job. I’m not the only one who would place Rich Eisen in this category. The NFL Network host is smart, presents a friendly tone, is enthusiastic about his subject matter without getting too serious, engages in good coversation with the other guys in the booth, and, most importantly, is eminently huggable.
↵We’ll leave it for you to decide, though.
