It was just last week that New Orleans Saints RB Reggie Bush was predicting his own future on Twitter after the Saints selected RB Mark Ingram in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft: "It's been fun New Orleans." It can't be a good feeling to see your replacement drafted in the middle of the first labor stoppage in the NFL in the last two decades.
Reggie Bush Just ‘Relaxing’ During NFL Lockout
But Bush has gotten over it. He’s viewing the positive side of the NFL lockout these days.
Everybody complaining about the lockout! Shoot I'm making the most of it! Vacation, rest, relaxing, appearances here and there! I'm good! Right about now we would be slaving in 100 degree heat, practicing twice a day, while putting our bodies at risk for nothing.
He should tell that to the nearly 40 Saints players that have been gathering for informal workouts while locked out. He should also tell that to QB Drew Brees, who is footing the bill for those workouts.
The players are arguing that they’re suffering irreparable harm during the lockout because of the short careers NFL players already possess. Bush, along with WR Wes Welker, aren’t helping the NFLPA’s cause.
The lockout isn’t necessarily hurting someone like Bush because he was the No. 2 overall pick and already had his big pay day. There are a large number of free-agents-to-be who haven’t had that pay day, not to mention the undrafted free agents who are barred from the league at the moment.
If I’m one of those players whose finances can’t ride out a lockout, I’m not happy with Mr. Bush.
