Back in the 2006-07 NFL season, the Cincinnati Bengals were consistently in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. In a nine month period, the Bengals had a whopping nine players arrested causing them to become the poster boys for bad behavior in the NFL.
Three Cincinnati Bengals Arrested In One Week Adds To League Lead
With a lede like that, you can probably guess where I’m going with this one. The Bengals in the last week have had three players arrested.
First, it was cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones getting cuffed after an incident at a nightclub. That was followed by safety Marvin White's arrest in Louisiana and now the latest is running back Cedric Benson getting picked up in Austin.
The Bengals hadn’t had a player arrested in almost a year before Pacman’s incident so they were going in the right direction. Making this situation even worse is that the Bengals can’t even talk to their players during the lockout so there won’t be much damage control going on.
In just one week, they've become the same old Bengals.
To make matters worse, we can report that this isn’t just a fluke week, and 2006-07 wasn’t just a fluke year. Since 2000, the Bengals lead the NFL in players arrested with 35.
