You have to love the chaotic nature of this post-lockout free agency. Packing months of rumors into a few days is always entertaining stuff. Of course, it also results in a truckload of premature reports, as is the case here with Donovan McNabb.
Donovan McNabb-To-Vikings Trade Talks Not All That Far Along, Counters PFT
Earlier today Adam Schefter constructed the perfect rumor, announcing that the Vikings had inquired about trading for McNabb. Jason La Canfora then raised the stakes, reporting that "paramaters of a deal" were already in place, and all that remained was for McNabb to restructure his contract.
Now new reports are stating that the previous reports may have been a bit hasty. Per ProFootballTalk.com:
A source with knowledge of the discussions tells us that, while a trade may indeed happen, the report of a deal being in place between the Vikings and Redskins is premature. Per the source, no agreement has been reached on the compensation the Redskins would receive.
