Matt Leinart Still Weighing Free Agency Options, Reportedly Interested In Seahawks, Redskins

Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that former Arizona Cardinal Matt Leinart would be joining the parade of uninspiring quarterbacks set to compete to start for the Seattle Seahawks, following the departure of longtime starter Matt Hasselbeck. In Seattle, Leinart would rejoin former USC coach Pete Carroll.

But Leinart himself says that he hasn’t signed with the Seahawks.

Just wanted to say I have not signed with Seattle amongst all the speculation. I am still weighing the options. Keep you posted

Leinart may not have signed with the Seahawks yet, but if there's an offer out there for him, he might be wise to consider it. Seattle's top quarterbacks currently are the rather uninspiring duo of Charlie Whitehurst and the recently-signed Tavaris Jackson. The smart money is still on Whitehurst to win the starting job - with the NFL Lockout, training camp will be frantic, and Whitehurst is the only one of the three quarterbacks who's already pretty familiar with Seattle's offense. That said, that offense could be quite bad this year, and there's definitely the possibility that Leinart could worm his way into some playing time at some point.

If he’s with the Seahawks, that is. He could also be headed to the Washington Redskins, where he’d compete with John Beck and Rex Grossman. That, too, might be a good situation for him. Stay tuned.
