Reggie Bush Gets New Contract In Trade To Miami Dolphins, According To Report

The New Orleans Saints are moving on from the former No. 2 overall pick in the draft. Reports emerged late Wednesday night that the Saints and Miami Dolphins had an agreement in principle to send RB Reggie Bush to Miami. Per the report, the deal hinged on Bush renegotiating his contract.

Bush had over $11 million due to him and it was highly unlikely anyone would pay that much money to him. So, in order for the Dolphins to get the trade done, Bush re-did his deal and now has a new two-year contract with the Dolphins, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Trades can happen now but new contracts can’t be consummated until Friday night when free agency really starts.

This trade certainly can’t hurt for the Dolphins assuming A.) the compensation isn’t huge and B.) Bush’s contract isn’t worth a whole lot. Bush may not be the type of player worthy of the No. 2 overall pick like he was with the Saints five years ago but he does have value, especially for a Dolphins team trying to keep their running backs together.
