The NFL lockout has affected so many things from the entire offseason to fans’ travel plans for training camp and, now, the NFL Hall of Fame game. Annually the first preseason game of the year, the Hall of Fame game is played on the weekend of the enshrinement to Canton each year.
NFL Hall Of Fame Game Ticket Sales Are Behind, Thanks To NFL Lockout
Because the lockout has affected everything else, it's only appropriate that it's affected ticket sales for the Hall of Fame game between the Bears and Rams on Aug. 7.
“Ticket sales are lagging behind where they were compared to this time last year,” hall president Steve Perry acknowledged. “That’s understandable. There is some uncertainty out there. But we’re planning to have the game. Nobody has told us otherwise. In fact, both sides have told us they want to play the game.”
The absence of the Hall of Fame game would be significant because it would mark the first game officially canceled due to the lockout. To this point, there hasn’t been any revenue-generating events missed (although a generally lower enthusiasm for the NFL has likely resulted in lost money) so we’re keeping our eye on the Hall of Fame game.
I could handle a few days of training camp canceled but once we officially miss a game I imagine you’ll see an uproar from the fans, even if it is just preseason.
