Lindsay Jones of The Denver Post reports Denver Broncos safety Rahim Moore has been fined $20,000 for his hit on Buffalo Bills wide receiver Donald Jones on Saturday night.
Rahim Moore Hit On Donald Jones Earns $20,000 Fine
Moore's hit drew a 15-yard personal foul flag and knocked Jones out of the game with a head injury. Bills head coach Chan Gailey said that Jones was OK after the game, but the second-year receiver has been held out of practice and may not play in Saturday night's preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
A 2011 second-round pick out of UCLA, Moore signed a four-year, $4.448 million contract on July 29 that included a $1.735 million signing bonus and a first-year base salary of $375,000. Fines in the NFL are paid in the regular season, which means $20,000 would be taken out of Moore’s first $22,059 game check (1/17th of $375,000). As noted by ProFootballTalk.com, Moore could appeal the fine and, if successful, have the amount reduced to 25 percent of his weekly pay ($5,515).
