Cedric Benson will be spending the Cincinnati Bengals bye week in jail. The Austin-American Statesman reports Benson pleaded no contest to an incident in which he allegedly assaulted an employee of a bar in Austin, Texas and was sentenced to 20 days in jail.
Cedric Benson Sentenced To 20 Days In Jail
He can report for jail on Oct. 17, the start of the Bengals bye week. With good behavior, he’s expected to spend about a week in jail, which would be all of the Bengals bye week.
“His priority right now is to get back to work and put these legal matters behind him,” his lawyer, Sam Bassett, said.
So that’s one legal case behind him but that’s not the only one he dealt with this week.
Benson also resolved an assault case in which he allegedly punched his former roommate. As part of that deal, Benson won’t be in anymore trouble assuming he stays out of trouble for one year.
SB Nation’s Cincy Jungle has all the details of Benson’s day in court.
