Chris Johnson Doesn’t Care If ‘Fake Titan Fans’ Think He’s Greedy

RB Chris Johnson has been unhappy with his contract dating back prior to the 2010 season when the Tennessee Titans upped the ante a little bit on his payment for the 2010 season. He didn't receive any new money in his contract with the Titans instead bumping some of his future money up and giving it to him then.

A year later and Johnson is still unhappy. He has yet to report to Titans training camp in protest of his contract. With the season only a couple weeks away, some Titans fans are getting antsy that their best player may not be there.

Johnson posted a message on Twitter for those fans who think he’s being greedy:

Can these fake Titan fans STFU on my timeline I don’t have a regular job so don’t compare me to you and I can care less if uthink I’m greedy

This was probably the wrong move. Fans tend to take the team’s side in things like this and fans can’t relate to a guy who wants over $10 million per year.

I don’t have a problem with Johnson holding out right now. He feels he deserves more money -- I agree with him -- and his only way to apply pressure on the Titans to give him more is to hold out. It’s the same as the Titans cutting him when they feel he’s being paid too much. It’s a two-way street and I understand that.

But alienating a portion of the fan base who simply want to see one of their favorite players actually playing is the wrong move. He lost some points with both the real and “fake” Titans fans on this one.
