Seahawks Vs. 49ers: Ted Ginn, Jr. Leads San Francisco To 33-17 Win

Ted Ginn, Jr. returned a kickoff and a punt for a touchdown, icing a win for the 49ers over their NFC West rival, the Seattle Seahawks.

The San Francisco 49ers leapt out to a 16-0 lead against the Seattle Seahawks in their Week 1 NFC West tilt, but after a length, frustrating climb, new QB Tarvaris Jackson led the Seahawks back to within two points with plenty of time left on the clock.

Then Ted Ginn, Jr. happened.

Back-to-back kickoff and punt return touchdowns later, the 49ers were well on their way to a 33-17 victory over their conference rivals, and Ginn finished with 268 return yards. The 49ers' only other sources of offense were an Alex Smith rushing touchdown and four David Akers field goals.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks failed to get anything going offensively until it was almost too late. Tarvaris Jackson was 21-37 with 197 yards two touchdowns and a pick, a middling performance, though he was without his best target, Sidney Rice, who missed the game with a shoulder injury.

Meanwhile, the one non-Ginn unit that stood out in this contest was the 49ers defense. It figures once legendary linebacker Mike Singletary gets fired as head coach, the defense plays its best game in years, but that's exactly what happened. Led by Patrick Willis, they were swarming to the football, hitting hard, and pushing the Seahawks around.

Based on how the Rams and Cardinals played today, it looks like the 49ers might finally be able to get back into the playoffs this season, if they keep playing like this. Defensively, at least.
