The San Diego Chargers were winners on Sunday, but attrition has already taken its toll. Kicker Nate Kaeding is reportedly out for the season with a torn ACL, and now defensive lineman Luis Castillo might be out for the 2011 campaign, according to agent David Canter (who does not represent either player). Castillo left late in the game and reportedly has a broken leg.
Luis Castillo Injury: Broken Leg Ends Season For Chargers’ Defensive End, According To Report
The San Diego Chargers are already battling attrition this season. Defensive end Luis Castillo is reportedly out for the season with a broken leg.
The loss of Castillo is a huge blow to the Chargers’ defense. He has been a pass rusher and a run stuffer on the Chargers’ defensive line since he entered the league in 2005. He has 19.0 career sacks and his loss be hard to make up, given the options they have on the line.
Now rookie Corey Liuget will be counted on even more on the right side. Jacques Cesaire and Vaughn Martin will vie for playing time at left end in an attempt to make up for Castillo's absence.
