Jets Vs. Cowboys: Tony Romo Falters As Dallas Falls

For three quarters, the Dallas Cowboys were seemingly in control, building a two touchdown lead in the final frame of Sunday night's matchup with the New York Jets. All was well as Dallas drove to the Jets two-yard-line with a seven-point lead midway through the fourth quarter. And then the wheels came off in spectacular fashion.

It started with a Tony Romo miscue as Dallas stood just feet away from recapturing its 14-point lead. But the Jets defense had other ideas as Romo coughed up the ball, turning it over at the most inopportune moment. It was the first of a series of gaffes, two of which were perpetrated by the Cowboys quarterback, leading to the Jets' comeback win.

After Joe Mcknight broke free to block Matt McBriar punt, which Isaiah Trufant scooped up and returned for a touchdown, the Cowboys and Jets struggled to find an rhythm on offense. But with under a minute to go and the ball at the Dallas 41, Romo made the fatal mistake.

On the Cowboys first play of the series, Romo challenged Darrelle Revis, and the Jets' cornerback easily won the battle. Romo's pass, which was intended for Dez Bryant, was picked off by Revis, setting up the Jets' game-winning field goal.

And with one final chance to drive the field, albeit with under 30 seconds to go, the Cowboys faltered again. In what was a fitting end, Romo fumbled the final snap of the game, the Jets recovered and the comeback was complete.

For three quarters, Romo was solid, but it all fell apart down the stretch, opening the door for the Jets. They took advantage, capping a weekend of wild finishes with another thriller.
