NFL Week 4 Upset Watch: Texans, Patriots And Cowboys Should Be On Alert

The Cowboys, Patriots and Texans are on upset watch in Week 4 of the 2011 NFL season.

Week 4 of the 2011 NFL season should be filled with some great games. Of the 16 games to be played this weekend, five of them have spreads of less than two points and 13 games have spreads of a touchdown or less.

Also, just like every week in the NFL, there are bound to be some upsets. Here are a few games that are on upset watch.

Pittsburgh Steelers over Houston Texans

Where: Houston, Texas

Spread: Texans by four

Why:

The Pittsburgh Steelers are 2-1 but the only team they beat easily was a very bad Seattle Seahawks team in Week 2. Their other win came over the Peyton Manning-less Indianapolis Colts last week in a game that the Colts could have won. The Texans have looked pretty impressive over the last three weeks so it's no surprise that they would be favored by four points heading into this week's game. However, you can't ever count the Steelers out, especially with their defense. The Texans haven't faced a defense as tough as the Steelers defense yet this year and it wouldn't surprise me if they turn the ball over a few times and if the Steelers offense can take advantage of them they can win.

Oakland Raiders over New England Patriots

Where: Oakland, California

Spread: Patriots by 4.5

Why:

Not only are the Patriots traveling from the east coast for the west coast but they're bringing the lowest-ranked defense in the NFL along with them. That's not a good thing, especially when they're going to have to face Darren McFadden, the NFL's leading rusher, who tore up the New York Jets last week for 171 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. The Patriots will likely stack the box in an attempt to stop McFadden and even if that works, and that's a big if, it will leave them vulnerable in the secondary. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Raiders win this game and I'm almost surprised the Patriots are favored by that many points.

Detroit Lions over Dallas Cowboys

Where: Dallas, Texas

Spread: Dallas by 1.5

Why:

So this wouldn't be such a huge upset considering that the Cowboys are only favored by one and a half points but an upset is and upset right? The Cowboys are coming off a short week after playing on Monday night in a dramatic division game against the Washington Redskins and they're still fairly banged up. The Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers are the only two NFC teams that are still undefeated and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cowboys fail to stop Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson from having their way with them all afternoon on Sunday.
