Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis was practicing this week after missing last week’s game against the Dolphins with strep throat. He returns to the field this week against when the Browns play the Titans. Hillis took the opportunity yesterday to defend himself against critics who questioned his absence last week.
Peyton Hillis Status: Hillis Defends His Toughness
Here’s what Hillis told the Cleveland Plain Dealer yesterday:
The people that really care about me, and want the best for me would understand. And the people that don’t, then they don’t. But I can’t control that. And I’m going to do what’s best for me at that point. If it’s going to jeopardize my health in that situation, I’m going to take my own career and my own life in my own hands and do the best I can.
Fans may notice something askew with Hillis this week. He dropped somewhere between 10-12 pounds because of the illness, and has spent the days since trying to add that weight back to his frame.
Fantasy GMs who have Hillis on their team can start him this week, but might want to note that the Titans are allowing an average of just 89 rushing yards per game.
