Tough times in New England. After an upset loss to the Bills last week, fans in the only market ESPN seems to care about lately are looking toward Tom Brady and the Patriots to rub some salve in an open wound. In any other year, a game against the Raiders would be an open and shut case, but Oakland is surprisingly competent this year.
NFL Picks Week 4: Patriots Vs. Raiders
Can Oakland hand the Patriots their second loss in a row, or will Tom Brady’s offense prove to be too much for the Raiders?
Led by Darren McFadden, Oakland's offense has been explosive this season. Their only loss was a narrow on to the Buffalo Bills, obviously. New England's defense is feeling the heat, allowing more than 27 points per game so far this season.
Peter Schrager at Fox takes the Patriots.
There’s something awfully ‘70’s “Commitment to Excellence”-ish about this defense and the power run game screams of “Just Win, Baby.” No one’s been able to stop Tom Brady. This defense, in front of that crowd, can. I’m taking the Patriots, but they’ll have to earn every inch in this one.
Peter King takes the Patriots as well. ESPN’s panel mostly follows suit, but a couple pickers opt for the Raiders in this one.
