The San Francisco 49ers visit the Philadelphia Eagles this week. When they do they will have a host of factors stacked against them, from the long travel distance, to Michael Vick being expected to play, to Alex Smith being expected to play, etc. All of it adds up to a 10-point spread in favor of the Eagles. What's worse, the 49ers will have to combat the negative karmic forces from practically every single NFL expert on the internet picking against them.
NFL Picks Week 4: 49ers Vs. Eagles
The San Francisco 49ers will travel cross-country to take on the Philadelphia Eagles this week. When they do, they will be significant underdogs according to oddsmakers and NFL experts.
Starting with SB Nation’s own Andrew Sharp, who says the 49ers should lay down an immediate ultimatum.
The 49ers really need to figure out whether they’re playing for Andrew Luck this year, because right now they look like a team destined to go 7-9 and slowly kill their fans’ will to live.
The fine people over at ESPN, CBS Sports and Yahoo! Sports also like the Eagles across the board. According to ESPN’s Accuscore, the Niners have just a 30 percent shot at winning, projecting a 24.2-17.2 final score for the Eagles.
Peter King caps the sweep, taking the Eagles by six. He does give the 49ers a glimmer of hope, however.
Sorely tempted to pick the Niners, because I don’t know how long Mike Vick is going to play, and the Niners are plus-six in turnover differential, best in the league. Eagles had best be taking this one seriously.
