Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Russell Wilson ended speculation about his pro career on Wednesday when he informed the Colorado Rockies he would be choosing football over baseball and declaring for the NFL Draft, according to the New York Times.

Russell Wilson will forgo a baseball career and enter the 2012 NFL Draft.
Wilson formerly played for the NC State Wolfpack football and baseball teams before transferring for his final season of eligibility to Wisconsin. In 2008, Wilson was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year in football and became the first ever freshman quarterback named to the All-ACC first team. The Colorado Rockies selected Wilson in the 2010 draft with the 140th pick and he played second base for the Asheville Tourists, the Rockies’ Class A affiliate of the South Atlantic League in 2011.
Wilson is coming off a season in which he threw for 3,175 yards and 33 touchdowns, leading the Badgers to the Rose Bowl.
