Pro Bowl 2012: Players Will Wear Team-Specific Nike Cleats

The 2012 Pro Bowl will be taking place on Sunday evening from Aloha Stadium in Hawaii. The annual NFL All-Star game will pit AFC and NFC teams against one another for one final football event before Super Bowl XLVI.

Although the players will be wearing unified jerseys (red for AFC, blue for NFC), it appears that each player will be wearing colorful cleats that are specific to the individual player’s own team.

Heidi Burgett of Nike PR took to Twitter on Sunday to share a picture of the various cleats. Here’s a look:

The individual cleats is a good idea and a neat touch for a game that isn't as conducive to players wearing their own team colors or jerseys as is the All-Star game for, say, baseball. The San Francisco 49ers cleat in particular looks instantly recognizable as the team colors.
