Mike Sherman Expected To Interview With Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs fired Raheem Morris on Monday and by Tuesday we have the name of the first candidate -- Mike Sherman.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fired Raheem Morris as head coach on Monday and 24 hours later we have news of a potential candidate. According to ESPN's John Clayton, the Bucs have reached out to Mike Sherman regarding the job. Sherman is the former Green Bay Packers and Texas A&M head coach. He has also worked for the Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans.

The two sides are expected to schedule an interview at some point.

Sherman spent six seasons in Green Bay as head coach so he has some NFL head coaching experience. As Clayton points out, it might make sense for the Bucs to lean towards a candidate with an emphasis in offense, like Sherman. The Bucs have a solid young quarterback in Josh Freeman who needs to continue to develop.

The Bucs job should be a considered a decent one with Freeman in place, plenty of cap space and the No. 5 pick in the 2012 NFL draft. On the other side, the Bucs aren’t known for spending a lot of cash so that may draw some people away.
