The style of play in the NFL has changed considerably in recent years, with most teams moving towards a high-percentage passing attack. Thanks to the great offensive talent in the league and the new pass coverage rules that favor offenses, passing numbers are blowing up. There haven't been too many 5,000 yard passers in NFL history, but two of them will meet when the Detroit Lions face the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Wild Card.
NFC Wild Card 2012: Lions Vs. Saints Will Make History
When Matt Stafford and Drew Brees take the field, it will be the first matchup in playoff history between two 5,000 yard passing quarterbacks. Stafford and Brees have both had stunning seasons, with both also throwing more than 40 touchdown passes in addition to their massive yardage numbers. Expect a lot of scoring and a lot of yards through the air when the two teams face off this weekend.
