Lions Vs. Saints, NFL Playoffs 2012: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

Two of the more explosive passing offenses in the NFL this season will be on display when the NFC South Champion New Orleans Saints host the Detroit Lions at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome at 8pm ET on Saturday night.

NBC will have the broadcast with Al Michael and Cris Collinsworth in the booth and Michele Tafoya on the sidelines. That same broadcast crew called the Saints' 31-17 win over the Lions in the same venue on December 4. Saints quarterback Drew Brees passed for 342 yards and three touchdowns in that win, which came when the Lions were playing without cornerback Chris Houston and free safety Louis Delmas, 50 percent of their starting secondary. Houston and Delmas remain on the Lions' injury report, but both are "Probable" for Saturday night's game.

Pride of Detroit notes that the Lions offense fared well against the Saints defense, with Matthew Stafford throwing for 408 yards and a touchdown. Stafford's 408 yards had been the second-most in his short career until he obliterated that with a 520-yard passing performance last Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. To put that number in context, Stafford had just 535 yards passing in three games during an injury-shortened 2010 season.

Dave Cariello of Canal Street Chronicles writes the Saints defense is better than you may think.
