Steelers Vs. Broncos: Brady Quinn Practicing Specific Packages, According To Report

The drama rages on over Friday's news that the Denver Broncos have prepared Brady Quinn to play in Sunday's AFC Wild Card Game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. For the uninitiated, Pro Football Talk released a report saying that Quinn had been taking roughly half of Denver's first-team snaps under center along with Tim Tebow. Quinn denied those reports in a text message to NFL.com. On Saturday, PFT backed up their initial claims, now saying that, according to an unnamed source, the Broncos have installed specific packages for Quinn in second-and-long and third-and-long situations.

Considering how poorly Tebow played in the Broncos last three games of the regular season, including a 6-for-22 passing performance against the Kansas City Chiefs last week, it would not be overly surprising to see Denver try a fresh face under center. Still, Quinn has not thrown a pass in the regular season since starting nine games with the Cleveland Browns during the 2009 season. Even then, he wasn't particularly effective, completing 53.1 percent of his passes and throwing seven interceptions in addition to eight touchdowns.

We will find out exactly how much the Broncos plan to use Quinn when they host Steelers at 4:30 p.m. ET on Sunday. The Steelers are big betting favorites this week, despite technically being the lower seed.
