The 2012 NFL Draft is still months away, but already speculation is flying with each bowl game that concludes, as more and more NCAA players announce their intent to go pro in the coming year.

One player to keep an eye on is Mark Barron of the Alabama Crimson Tide. The strong safety had a great senior year, making the 2011 Preseason All-SEC list on the First Team and being a Consensus 2011 All-American. He had 66 tackles, including 42 solo tackles and four tackles for loss.

Mocking the Draft has Barron listed as their No. 26 overall ranked pick and the top-ranked strong safety in the 2012 draft. If that holds true to form, that means he would be selected by the Houston Texans, who own the No. 26 selection in the draft. The Texans could certainly use assistance on their defense next year. At any rate, Barron is an attractive option for any team that needs depth at his position and figures to be selected early in the second round, at the latest.
