Lions Vs. Saints 2012: Detroit Offense Loves Going Deep

The Detroit Lions methodically marched down the field on their first drive to take a 7-0 lead over the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Wild Card game but they didn't have quite as much success on their second drive. They started on their own 18 yard line and in nine plays made it to the 50-yard line before deciding to punt.

The Lions converted two third downs on this drive so they’ve shown they can move the ball. They still hold a 7-0 lead over the Saints.

What's exciting to watch about the Lions offense -- and why they have the ability to beat the Saints -- is that Matthew Stafford won's hesitate to throw it deep to Calvin Johnson, one of the best receivers in the league. He's a mismatch with almost anyone and Stafford knows it.

It’s still early but the Lions are playing well enough right now.
