The New Orleans Saints got the football back after the Detroit Lions once again failed to capitalize on another Saints turnover, and the Saints once again began to methodically march right down the football field. Drew Brees connected with wide receiver Marques Colston for a 23-yard gain on the first pass of the drive. A few plays later Chris Ivory picked up a third and short to keep the drive alive.

Right before the two-minute warning, wide receiver Robert Meachem made a ridiculous catch on the sideline to put the Saints in third and short.
There were off setting penalties on the very next play and Drew Brees missed on third and one. The Saints went for it on fourth down with Chris Ivory pounding the ball off of the right tackle to muscle for the first down. Brees hit tight end Jimmy Graham for an 11-yard gain to get the Saints in the redzone. A few plays later, Brees took a shot in the endzone to Marques Colston who looked like he caught a touchdown, but after the review it was overturned because he did not maintain control through the catch to the ground.... or the Calvin Johnson rule.
There was a penalty also called on the play however, as a personal foul was called on cornerback Amari Spievey because of "contact to the helmet". Even after the penalty gave the Saints a new set of downs, the Lions defense was able to hold the Saints to just a field goal, taking a 14-10 lead into halftime.
