NFC Wild Card: Lions Turn It Over, Saints Take Control In Fourth Quarter

The Detroit Lions are in serious trouble in the NFC Wild Card game. They're trailing the New Orleans Saints 31-21 with about nine minutes left in the fourth quarter and Matthew Stafford just ended the Lions last drive by throwing an interception.

Stafford was under pressure and, as he's done a few times in the game, he fired a deep ball to Calvin Johnson. Unfortunately, that deep ball was intercepted by the Saints who sit in firm control of the game with a double digit lead less than 10 minutes remaining.

If Johnson had caught it he would add to what is already a memorable day -- nine catches for 173 yards and a touchdown. Of course, we’ll only remember it if the Lions can come back and win.

Check out the complete 2012 NFL playoffs schedule. For more on the Saints and their trip to the playoffs, check out SB Nation’s Canal Street Chronicles. For more on the Lions and their first playoff appearance in over a decade visit Pride of Detroit.
