Giants Vs. Packers 2012: A Rematch Of Classic 2008 NFC Championship Game

After a dominant 24-2 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in the first round, the New York Giants seem to have hit their stride at the perfect time this season.

The late-season push makes comparisons with their last playoff team -- the 10-6 squad that stunned the nation by defeating the 18-0 New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII -- inevitable.

Now they face the same hurdle the ‘08 team had to overcome: a January road game at Lambeau Field. But while Green Bay has an imposing 13-3 franchise record at home, all three losses have come in the last decade.

None was more devastating than the 2008 loss to the Giants, when Corey Webster intercepted a Brett Favre pass in overtime to set up a game-winning 47-yard field goal. The pass would be the last Favre would ever throw as a Packer.

But from New York's point of view, the game should never have been that close, as K Lawrence Tynes missed a 43-yard and a 36-yard attempt at the end of the fourth quarter.

Tynes has been reliable this season, making 79.2% of his kicks, including 3 over 50 yards, but how he handles Wisconsin in January will be an interesting story-line headed into Sunday’s game.
