Vikings Vs. Lions, Week 4: Special teams unit hurting Detroit

Detroit gave up a pair of scores on special teams to Minnesota, and that proved decisive.

The Detroit Lions were upset at home by the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, and Minnesota's two touchdowns both came on special teams. The Vikings opened the game with a 105-yard kickoff return, which is the second kickoff return touchdown the Lions have allowed in as many weeks. SB Nation's Pride Of Detroit lamented the poor special teams effort:

[The Lions'] special teams issues from last week carried over with Percy Harvin returning the game's opening kickoff 105 yards for a touchdown. He wasn't even touched, and the Lions once again showed off their awful coverage by allowing him to take the kick to the house.

The Lions also gave up two special-teams scores in their loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 3. The Lions have lost three games in a row following their opening-week victory over St. Louis, and they have a bye in Week 5.
