NFL picks Week 6: Bengals vs. Browns

The majority of analysts from around the web agree that Cincinnati should prevail over the winless Brown this weekend, but a handful of experts are still calling for an upset.

The only winless team in the NFL after five weeks of the season, the Cleveland Browns, will try to turn their poor campaign around in Week 6 against Andy Dalton and a dangerous Cincinnati Bengals team.

The Browns tied a season-high with 27 points in a Week 5 loss to Dallas, and should continue to fight an uphill battle with one of the most porous defenses in the league at the moment. Winners by a touchdown during an early-season meeting between the two teams back in Cincinnati, the Bengals will be eager to pull off a season sweep of their divisional rivals come Sunday afternoon.

Viewed as a top playoff contender in the AFC for their explosive offense and sound defense, the Bengals surprisingly did not pick up an overwhelming amount of support this week from NFL experts making selections. Out of CBSSports.com’s panel of eight experts, three felt compelled to select the Browns to pull off the upset this week on their home field.

Yahoo! Sports’ Jason Cole also echoed those sentiments with his own selection of the Browns to win straight up, while his counterpart Les Carpenter opted to take the safe route and chose the 3-2 Bengals to roll, alongside the hordes of Yahoo! users who also voted for Cincinnati.

Over at ESPN.com things were a bit more cut-and-dry, as five men, including Merrill Hoge and Mark Schlereth, picked the road favorite Bengals to reign supreme in Week 6. The duo of Adam Schefter and Mike Ditka did manage to select the Browns, however, adding two more names to the intriguing list of experts who believe this Sunday will be kind to head coach Pat Shurmur’s struggling Browns.
