Week 6 NFL picks: Vikings vs. Redskins

A majority of pickers are siding with the Minnesota Vikings as their stout defense takes on a Washington Redskins team that might be without Robert Griffin III this weekend.

With Robert Griffin III’s status still up in the air, the matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Washington Redskins is one of the toughest in the NFL to predict in Week 6.

The opening line was set with the Redskins as 1.5-point favorites at home, but that’s been frozen without knowledge of Griffin’s status. Joel Thorman of SB Nation went with Minnesota, 20-14:

So, who had the Vikings at 4-1 after five weeks? Anyone? I'm a little late to the party on the Vikings, but they're a three-point loss to the Colts away from being 5-0. The Redskins could be without their starting quarterback, Robert Griffin III, who is recovering from a Week 5 concussion. That's not a good situation facing the league's sixth-ranked defense.

Pickers from major websites were split pretty evenly when it came to picking a team straight up for the matchup, with a slight edge towards Minnesota. Yahoo had two pickers choose the Redskins while one sided with the Vikings, while only Pete Prisco and Mike Wilson of CBS picked the Redskins while the rest of pickers chose the Vikings. USA Today’s pickers also went 4-2 in favor of the Vikings, while all but three ESPN pickers chose Minnesota. Two of the three that sided with Washington, Chris Mortensen and Greg Wickersham, are easily the two best pickers amongst those four sites thus far this season, sitting at 55-22 and 53-24, respectively. Pick’em pools at Yahoo! and ESPN both sided with Minnesota, as did prediction algorithms at ESPN and CBS.
