Pittsburgh Steelers rookie nose tackle Alameda Ta'amu was charged with DUI, fleeing and aggravated assault while driving drunk on Sunday morning, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Karen Kane is reporting. Ta'amu, the Steelers' fourth-round selection in the 2012 NFL Draft, was pulled over after he was seen driving the wrong way down Carson Street, a popular nighttime district. Police attempted a traffic stop but he fled and damaged several cars in the process.

Steelers’ rookie Alameda Ta’amu was arrested early Sunday morning on drunk driving charges.

According to the report, the 22-year-old Ta’amu was also charged with 10 misdemeanors, including resisting arrest, attempting escape, drunken driving and failure to obey traffic laws. Ta’amu is scheduled for a Oct. 23 hearing.
The organization has yet to release a statement regarding the situation. Pittsburgh does not play Sunday, as they lost to the Tennessee Titans, 26-23 on Thursday night. The University of Washington did not play in the game and has been inactive for the Steelers in all five of their games.
