For the first time in NFL history, two regular season games will be played on foreign soil in 2013, as the league announced at its owners' meeting in Chicago Tuesday that the Minnesota Vikings will host the Pittsburgh Steelers in London on Sept. 29, 2013.

The NFL will hold two games in London next season, a fact confirmed Tuesday when the league announced the Minnesota Vikings will play a home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Wembley Satdium Sept. 29, 2013.

The league has been playing games annually at London's Wembley Stadium, but commissioner Roger Goodell has long been interested in expanding the international profile of the sport. First came the announcement that the Jacksonville Jaguars had agreed to play one of their games per year for the next four years in London, and last week it was confirmed that series will begin Oct. 27, 2013 against the San Francisco 49ers. Then it became clear Goodell planned on holding two games in London next season, culminating in today's announcement of the second game. The games will be held almost a month apart, in part due to logistical issues.
The game will also be the first time the Vikings or Steelers will play abroad.
