After being blown out by the Chicago Bears the week before, the Dallas Cowboys kept close with the Baltimore Ravens before ultimately falling 31-29 on a missed 51-yard field goal with seconds remaining in the game.
Jason Witten says no moral victories for the Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys tight end does not believe in moral victories after the Cowboys’ 31-29 loss to the Baltimore Ravens last week.

While some fans think the Cowboys walked away with a moral victory following the close defeat, Dallas tight end Jason Witten thinks otherwise. Speaking with BaD Radio on KTCK in Dallas, Texas, Witten said the Cowboys – or any NFL team for that matter – should not believe in moral victories:
“I don’t believe in moral victories. I don’t think in pro ball they exist, and they shouldn’t exist. So at the end of the day, you’ve gotta go find a way to get a win, especially when you’re a .500 ball club. Wins in this league are precious. ... We outplayed them in a lot of areas. You gotta find a way to win them.”
Witten did think the Cowboys showed some signs of improvement, starting with the running game, which rushed for 224 yards against one of the better defenses in the league:
“That should be the standard for our football team. You have to play that way and, really, I think Coach Garrett said it yesterday: When you’re able to run the ball that way, it helps your offense in so many ways. It really helps your football team in so many other areas. It softens the coverage, obviously. It controls the time of possession, keeps your defense off the field, all of those things that we all know. But it was our game plan; it wasn’t anything new.”
Witten does think that if the team can duplicate its performance against the Ravens, the Cowboys can go on a major winning streak, but the veteran knows that they have to start winning now before time runs out on the season:
“I think we play that type of football, we’re going to win a lot of games this year. But we (can’t) keep saying we’ll get it next week, we’ll get it next week. It’s gotta happen soon. I think our team’s going to do that.”
