Saints activate Jonathan Vilma, cut Greg Camarillo

Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma activated for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as his bounty suspension is being appealed. Wide Receiver Greg Camarillo cut to make space on the roster.

The New Orleans Saints announced on Saturday that linebacker Jonathan Vilma has been activated from the PUP list and added to the Saints' roster for this weekend's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In order to make room on the roster for Vilma, New Orleans cut wide receiver Greg Camarillo.

Vilma is allowed to play while his season-long suspension, for his activity in the Saints’ bounty program, is under appeal. The veteran linebacker, who is expected to jump right into action on Sunday, has been in the NFL for nine seasons, spending five of them in New Orleans.

The Saints are 1-4 on the season after starting winless in their first four games. Their defense has struggled in the wake of their offseason scandal, ranking 26th in the league in opponents passing yards and 31st in opponents rushing yards.

This Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers kicks off at 1 p.m. ET at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium. The game is being broadcast on FOX.
