Houston wins key AFC showdown over Baltimore, 43-13

While Baltimore’s defense was certainly banged up, their offense was relatively healthy. and Texans blogger Vega at SB Nation’s Battle Red Blog was very pleased with how Houston shut down the Ravens’ offense:

Daniels was quiet in the second half as Houston killed the clock to win 43-13.

Fantasy Impact: Daniels continues his breakout season with arguably his best game of the year. If not for a couple uncharacteristic drops, his numbers would’ve been even better.

The Texans clobbered the Ravens 43-13 after taking a huge 29-3 lead at halftime.

The Texans get a bye next week, and that is the only week of the season where you should bench Foster. He has a juicy matchup against Buffalo’s miserable defense in Week 9.

With the game out of hand so early, the Texans kept the ball on the ground in the second half. They went on to win 43-13.

Fantasy Impact: This is the kind of statement game Schaub and the Texans needed after laying an egg against Green Bey. They are unquestionably the best team in the AFC, and Schaub’s efficiency has been a big part of that.

Over his last three-and-a-half games, Flacco now has 2 TD and 4 INT, dropping his fantasy status to IR. (Ineffective Reserve.) Meanwhile, the Houston Texans seem to be taking a large lead in the AFC as the most dominant team.

Fantasy Take: It’s hard to tell exactly how Baltimore will look over the rest of the season but it’s possible that Houston will put up a lot of points today. You wouldn’t start Tate but it’s possible he could always steal five to 10 carries, especially if Houston grabs an early lead, and he’s always a possibility around the goal line. Either way, Foster is still a top-end RB1 and should be fine even if Tate relieves him a few times.

Fantasy Impact: Johnson always seems to be struggling with some ailment or another, but he appears to be fully healthy going up against a weakened Ravens secondary. The bigger concern is his inability to make plays downfield. Texans head coach Gary Kubiak blamed an inefficient running game earlier this week, but it is also possible that the veteran wideout has lost a step.

At the time of the injury it was thought that Suggs could miss the entire 2012 season, but he’s now playing the day after being activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list. Suggs has had just three practices.

Fantasy Take: It’s not likely that Suggs will get that many snaps in his first game back, but reports indicate that he’s anxious to get some work in and help out the Baltimore defense. He would not be a good play today for Individual Defensive Player leagues, nor should he have much of an impact on team defense.

After six weeks of the 2012 season, only two teams in the AFC have a winning record. Those two teams will face each other in Week 7 in the marquee NFL game on Sunday.
