Percy Harvin has two catches so far in Thursday night’s bout against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, one of which off a touchdown pass that got the Vikings on the board in the second quarter.
Buccaneers vs. Vikings: Now is Percy Harvin a No. 1 receiver?
Percy Harvin has the Minnesota Vikings on the board.
Harvin lines up in the slot and gets behind the defender for a nice throw from Christian Ponder. His catch is not to be overlooked and there are a lot of receivers in the NFL who can’t make it.
Funny, Harvin wanted an expanded role in the offense this season. He wanted to be a No. 1 receiver. Through eight games -- almost eight games counting Thursday’s -- Harvin has 55 receptions, which leads the NFL.
He caught a career-high 87 passes last season. This year, Harvin is on pace for 110 catches and more than 1,300 yards. That looks like No. 1 receiver production to me. Next season is the final year of his contract. He should be getting a new deal before then.
