Titans T Roos’ starts streak ends at 119 due to surgery

Michael Roos has started 119 consecutive games for the Tennessee Titans, but that streak will come to an end on Sunday.

Tennessee Titans’ tackle Michael Roos streak of 119 consecutive starts will come to an end on Sunday, reports Yahoo! Sports. Roos had an emergency appendectomy on Monday and the Titans were unwilling to risk bringing him back that close to the operation.

Titans head coach Mike Munchak indicated that Roos was willing to come back:

“We’re not going to take any risks or chances with that even though he’s feeling pretty good. He probably needs a good week to rest, and then he’ll be good next week.”

Drafted in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft, Roos has started from Week 1 of his rookie season. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2008 and is a three-time All-Pro. Following his Pro Bowl season, he signed a six-year, $43 million contract extension with the Titans.

The Titans’ franchise record for consecutive starts belongs to Bruce Matthews, who played with the team from 1987 to 2001 and is currently their offensive line coach. Matthews started 229 consecutive games. The NFL record belongs to Brett Favre, who started 297 consecutive games over 19 seasons with three teams.
