Michael Bennett, a former first-round draft pick who last played for the Oakland Raiders in 2010, has been sentenced to more than a year in prison for his involvement in a tax fraud scheme, according to the Associated Press.

Bennett was sentenced to 15 months on Friday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and this comes three months after he pleaded guilty to wire fraud.

Bennett, 34, was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2001 and played for six teams while in the NFL.

Former Raiders and New York Giants defensive tackle William Joseph also pleaded guilty to related charges and is awaiting sentencing. Former Syracuse player Louis Gachelin and five others were all part of a group that used an undercover check-cashing store in North Miami operated by the FBI.

Bennett had 3,703 yards in 107 total games (50 starts). His best season was his Pro Bowl second season with the Vikings when he put up 1,296 yards with five touchdowns in 16 games.
