The Miami Dolphins lost their starting quarterback when Ryan Tannehill hyperextended his knee against the New York Jets, and the rookie is considered questionable for the team’s next game. Mario Williams underwent some type of wrist operation, but the details were unclear.

Matt Moore played well in relief of Tannehill, as the Dolphins coasted to a 30-9 victory of the New York Jets, but Miami obviously hopes its rookie starter can continue his surprisingly strong debut campaign as soon as possible. Tannehilll is scheduled to have an MRI Monday, but the injury isn't expected to be major and Moore said he felt confident he'd be ready to go by Sunday. Defensive tackle Tony McDaniel also left the game after hurting his knee.
Mario Williams had a mysterious operation on his ailing left wrist, but is expected to play next Sunday in his first game against his former team, the Houston Texans. The league's highest-paid defensive player had the procedure performed last week, but the team wouldn't provide specifics, such as the nature of the surgery, when or where he had it, or why he had it. Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey only offered that some operation took place and that it caused Williams to miss practice, but likely not game time. It's not the first time Buffalo has been less than forthcoming with the defensive end's injury, as it was earlier in modestly hot water for failing to list him on an injury report despite the wrist issue.
For the Jets, running back Joe McKnight had to leave the game against the Dolphins after aggravating an ankle injury. Like other injured Jets such as Bart Scott, Bilal Powell, and Eric Smith, he'll have an extra week to heal as the Jets hit their bye week.
Cornerback Kyle Arrington left the New England Patriots' game against the St. Louis Rams after suffering a head injury. More details were not immdiately available, but he is questionable for the team's next game, two weeks away. Wes Welker tweaked his ankle late in the game, but the wide receiver said he felt he would not miss any playing time.
