AFC North injury report: Ryan Clark leaves Pittsburgh victory with concussion

The status of the Steelers safety is unknown after he suffered a concussion in Week 8.

Andy Lyons

The Pittsburgh Steelers routed the Washington Redskins, 27-12, on Sunday, but in the process they lost safety Ryan Clark for an undetermined amount of time. Clark left the game during Washington's first drive of the second half with a concussion and did not return, though he did tweet after the game that he would be ready to play in Week 9 when Pittsburgh visits the New York Giants.

It is unclear, though, if that’s the official word from the team or just wishful thinking from Clark. The safety was taken immediately to the locker room on Sunday after a collision with Redskins fullback Darrel Young, and more information should be made available later in the week.

The Steelers' offense on Sunday was boosted by a stellar performance from running back Jonathan Dwyer, who ran for 107 yards on 17 carries. After the game, Dwyer was listed on the postgame injury report as having strained his right quad, though he told reporters after the game that he is "fine." The injury didn't cause Dwyer to miss any time on Sunday, as he had four carries on the team's final drive in garbage time.

Elsewhere around the NFC North, the Cleveland Browns pulled out a 7-6 victory over the San Diego Chargers and also escaped the game with no injuries. The Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals both were off in Week 8.
