Carl Nicks injury: Bucs guard out for the season

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed All-Pro guard Carl Nicks on injured reserve due to a lingering foot injury.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced they have placed veteran offensive guard Carl Nicks on injured reserve after he suffered a toe injury.

According to Jenna Laine of TheSportsXchange, Nicks has been dealing with a torn plantar plate in his left foot all season and will undergo season ending surgery to repair it.

The Buccaneers signed the All-Pro guard to a five-year contract over the offseason worth $47.5 million, and has been one of the bright spots of an improving Buccaneers’ offense.

This is the second major injury for the Buccaneers on the offensive line this year. Tampa Bay also lost Pro Bowl guard Davin Joseph to a devastating knee injury against the New England Patriots during the preseason. According to our Buccaneers site Bucs Nation, Ted Larsen will most likely take Nicks' starting position at left guard.

In addition to Nicks, the Buccaneers have placed rookie tight end Danny Noble on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury.
