Mike Thomas trade: Jaguars receive mid-round pick, according to report

The Jaguars have reportedly received a mid-round draft pick from the Lions for receiver Mike Thomas.

The Jacksonville Jaguars received an undisclosed mid-round pick from the Detroit Lions in exchange for wide receiver Mike Thomas on Tuesday, according to a tweet from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Thomas joins a wide receiving corps in Detroit with Calvin Johnson and Titus Young. The fourth-year, 5'8 pro has struggled to only 13 catches for 80 yards this season in Jacksonville while being buried on the depth chart behind rookie Justin Blackmon and free agent signee Laurent Robinson. He'll now catch passes from the slot from Matthew Stafford instead of Blaine Gabbert.

Thomas had a fairly productive first few years in Jacksonville, amassing 164 catches in three seasons before this year. He's coming off a four-reception, 19-yard game against the Green Bay Packers, good for a 4.8 yards-per-reception average.

Johnson has been banged up, so it could be an insurance move for the Detroit Lions, who at 3-4 find themselves in the cellar of the NFC North.
