The Atlanta Falcons remained undefeated on Sunday, beating the Washington Redskins by the score of 24-17 after running back Michael Turner scored the game-winning touchdown with 2:46 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Falcons Vs. Redskins, Week 5: Atlanta off to best start in franchise history
The 2012 Falcons have been able to do something no other team has ever done in franchise history, leaving SB Nation’s Falcons blog, The Falcoholic, wondering if this is the best team in franchise history

The victory not only further extended Atlanta’s lead in the NFC South while also keeping the Falcons as one of only two remaining undefeated teams, but the win set a new franchise record. The 2012 Falcons are the first team in the franchise’s nearly fifty-year existence to get off to a 5-0 start.
With that being said, Dave Choate of SB Nation’s Atlanta Falcons blog, The Falcoholic, believes this is the best Falcons team ever, at least in terms of regular season success.
The Falcons moved to 5-0 for the first time in franchise history. They had only gone 4-0 two times before this season, and had never managed to win their first five games. Ever.
To pull that off in today’s hyper-competitive NFL, against talented football teams and fighting through weather and mistakes, is nothing short of astounding. I couldn’t let this go by without spending a short article talking about it, because no matter how many fixes are necessary, they’re still unbelievably good.
Matt Ryan and the Falcons will prepare to host the visiting Oakland Raiders on Sunday in hopes of extending their undefeated season for at least another week.
